Code: Terraform - The Ultimate Automation/Programming GameYou are dispatched to an ice-locked alien world. The spaceship is silent. Sensors are offline.
The only way to bring life back to this world is to write code.
Code: Terraform is an automation/programming game where all actions are completed through your hand-written scripts. No visual programming, no drag-and-drop operations, but real code: using a language based on Python, the game includes a full editor, console, and documentation.
You don't click to mine, you write mining scripts. You don't manually manage the power grid, you write strategies to drive it. Solar trackers follow the sun because your code reads the clock. Drone formations take off because your code dispatches them. The more systems you drive with scripts, the stronger the planet's response.
One script at a time, bring the base back online. Calibrate sensors. Start the solar panels. Read raw instrument data and interpret its meaning. Each system is a component interacting through code.
Your solar trackers follow the sun. Your Rover surveys distant locations and drills into valuable mining spots. Your smelter refines the minerals brought back. They all run simultaneously while you plan your next move, and your code keeps working.
The Earth sends contracts, real data processing challenges with tangible rewards. Parse signals, filter datasets, calculate solutions. The harder the contract, the higher the pay.
Earn credits. Buy machines. Deploy modular Rovers and Pioneers, swapping navigation, sonar, and drilling modules for the task at hand. Melt ore into ingots. Manufacture parts: pipe sections, machine frames, circuit boards, turbine rotors, cargo bays, propulsion components, battery packs. Deliver orders to Earth's contractors to earn credits, unlock blueprints, and upgrade technology. Start with a solar panel and build an industrial network spanning the entire planet.
Pump water from underground reservoirs. Drill oil wells. Install covers on geothermal vents to capture steam. Use pipelines to transport various media across the planet, balancing back pressure and feeding the high-flow, high-demand stage III machines. Cross pipelines with elevated spans. Connect power subnets with line segments. Infrastructure is laid out grid by grid, designed by you.
The Mark I machine takes you into the thin atmosphere stage. The Mark II pushes you into the breathable air stage. The Mark III requires fluid input but opens the path to terraforming. Obtain upgrade packages through orders and apply them to your deployed machines, watching your production curve soar.
Plan pipelines, wires, and outposts in the grid-based blueprint editor. Send out a Pioneer equipped with construction modules to execute your plan. Lay out infrastructure piece by piece, like a real engineering team.
Assemble drones with frames, thrusters, and modular compartments. Establish outposts in the most resource-rich areas and operate them remotely. Write flight scripts to transport ore back to the base, send supplies out, and recover stranded drones. Charging stations and fuel platforms keep the fleet in the air, while recovery pods transport drones that didn't return. Range depends on battery and fuel, not ground tracks. Share a route as a library script once, and all drones can use it.
A full-featured code editor with syntax highlighting, auto-completion, signature hints, type-based completion, rename refactoring, and inline documentation accessible through Cmd+click. Multiple scripts can run simultaneously. Share code with library scripts: import a function once, and use it anywhere. Breakpoints, log points, conditional breakpoints, and three single-step modes bring a real debugging experience. Dock the editor to one side and watch the results while you code.
Discrepancies in sensor readings. Warm areas where there shouldn't be heat. Structures that didn't exist yesterday. The mission control center asking questions it shouldn't. The more you modify, the stronger the planet's response. Not to your equipment, but to you.
No cutscenes, no cinematic presentations. Each plot point comes through the systems you're already using: briefings, sensor data, encrypted transmissions, anomalies in contracts. The truth will unfold as you work. Pay attention to details.
There are documents and hints, but no tutorials. Understand like a real engineer.
